Early intervention attempts to influence the development and learning of children from birth to 3-5 years who have a developmental disability/delay, or who are at risk due to biological or environmental factors.
A planned treatment program is introduced which changes the anticipated or projected course of development.
The child grows and develops rapidly during the first 3 years of life. Most of the brain growth, motor development, language, personality, temperament, attachment, social development is usually achieved in the first 2 years of the child’s development.
Early intervention helps us to compare and observe the development of the child and if any abnormality is observed then to provide intervention immediately.
Primary prevention is the most important goal of EI.
Early Intervention (EI) services can help you and your family:
EI includes children from 0-3 years who are at-risk or having established developmental delays of various degrees and associated conditions.
The child may not show any delay presently, but those who express risk factors may show delay at a later age.
